Video Submission

Currently, you can submit two types of videos: videos from third party sites such as YouTube, DailyMotion, etc., or videos that you’ve recorded yourself. The only guideline for video submissions is that they feature the following:

1) It is live recorded infield footage of a guy picking up a woman.
2) It’s of at least moderate quality (it’s viewable, dialog is audible).
3) It’s a legitimate pick up — there are no actors or the girl isn’t a “plant” or anything.
4) It’s a clip of a television show related to pick up or the pick up industry.

Seminars, promotional videos or general entertainment videos will not be considered.

SUBMITTING THIRD PARTY VIDEOS

You may submit two types of videos: videos hosted on third party sites such as YouTube, or raw footage you’ve recorded yourself. PickupTube treats the two types of submissions very differently.

Third party submissions will be judged simply on quality of content and if the quality of its content is judged to be acceptable based on the guidelines above, it’ll immediately be added as free content for anyone who becomes a member of the site.

Submitting Your Own Videos

PickupTube is also open to promoting anyone’s personally recorded infield videos as well. Once again, if you’re hosting your videos on a public third-party site, we’re happy to add it to our free content section (assuming it qualifies).

But if you’re looking for more specific promotion or are have raw footage and need help producing it, please read below for more details.

FILMING YOURSELF

It’s in PickupTube’s interest to promote the creation of quality infield content, regardless of who it is. So we’re about to let you in on a little secret — how to effectively film yourself in field talking to women.

(All links lead to proper equipment. Warning, All in all, the setup will run you close to $1,000!)

1. Pinhole Camera – A pinhole camera is exactly what it sounds like, a small camera about the size of a pencil eraser, designed to be hidden.
2. DVR (and Adaptor) – Next, you need a digital DVR device to record the incoming video information.
3. Battery Pack – You need to power the camera. Surprisingly, it uses quite a bit of battery power, so you’ll want to buy an 8AA adaptor for your device.
4. Audio Recorder and Mic – Attach this to whoever is doing the talking.
5. Flip Cam – Used to record day game. Just tuck in a shoulder bag or pocket and let it rip.
6. A Friend – Trust us, you’re going to need a second guy following you around. It’s basically impossible to manage all of this equipment and get reliable footage consistently at the same time.

If you choose to buy other devices, make sure that your pinhole camera is nightvision and that your audio recorder has a limiter. Otherwise you will NOT be able to record in dark, loud night clubs.

Finally, you’ll need a small convertor to connect the camera’s output to the DVR adaptor’s input. You can find these adaptors at most Radio Shacks or similar electronics stores. They’re only $5 or so.

Finally, put everything together. Now you have to find a way to hide it. One popular way is buy putting the DVR and batteries into a shoulder bag while gluing the pinhole camera to the shoulder strap. The benefits of this is that you have better control of the camera and where it’s facing. The disadvantages is that it’s hard to check the DVR to make sure you’re getting a good shot (very important) and some bars/clubs won’t let you into the venue with bags.

The other option is a bit harder, but eventually what we went with to film our initial footage for the site. Go out and buy a cheap blazer. Glue and/or sew the pinhole camera into one of the button holes and then put the DVR in the inside coat pocket. Next, use electrical tape to wrap up all of the wires and then just keep the battery pack in your pocket.

Notes about recording: Getting quality infield footage is actually MUCH MUCH HARDER than it sounds. For every solid 10 minutes of footage on this site, I guarantee you that guy filmed for an hour.

To begin with, you’re going to have technical issues. Get used to it. It’s unavoidable. The DVR’s use up a TON of battery and take a long time to recharge. So you’re really only working with 3-4 hours of recording time per night, tops. On top of that, the equipment gets bumped a lot, and often malfunctions. So throw out maybe 1/4 of your footage due to that. Then on top of THAT, you have user errors — forgetting to unmute the mic, not realizing the camera isn’t plugged in completely, forgetting to hit the record button on the DVR — stupid stuff that is going to cause you to lose another 1/4 of your material.

Then you throw on top of that the fact that women are incredibly unpredictable creatures, impossible factors such as venue lines, weather, girl/guy ratios, lack of quality sets, and the fact that you’re going to be twice as nervous on camera as you would be normally, and good footage is hard to come by. In general, an hour of usable footage per night of recording means you’re doing very well.

Editing and PRODUCING YOUR RAW FOOTAGE

So you’ve recorded yourself and your friends over and over. You guys kick ass and take names, pick up some serious hotties and have crazy adventures on camera. Whether it’s to promote yourself, create a business or for fun, you want to get the video out there. How do you do it?

Truth be told, there’s as much time involved in editing, rendering, compressing and producing infield videos as there is recording them, and it takes an expert multiple hours to do all of that. And those hours will cost you a pretty penny… sometimes as much as thousands of dollars.

Well, here’s the good news: PickupTube will edit and produce your footage for you. In return, you grant PickupTube the rights to use it on our site how we see fit.

What You Get: Awesome infield footage that guys can watch and learn from, a perfect way to promote yourself and bring massive amounts of traffic to your website or business. We’ll also create promotional shorts or what we call “highlights” so you can put them around YouTube. And ALL FOR FREE.

What We Get: Some great content to provide our users and subscribers.

This is a pretty awesome deal, and honestly, I don’t know how long we’ll have the capacity to continue doing it. But here’s the most important thing: we’re very strict on the quality of footage we’re willing to produce. If you’re considering recording yourself or sending us some of your raw footage, you should at least fit most of these guidelines:

1) The footage involves real results that are impressive, genuine and educational (you should at least have multiple make-outs on camera to be seriously considered).
2) The footage is of decent quality — both audio and video.
3) What you do is reproducible — i.e., it’s not you finding the one drunk girl and being the right guy at the right place at the right time over and over again. It’s actually you cold approaching and picking up girls from scratch.
4) Being an instructor in the industry or an aspiring pick up coach is a plus.

If you think you’ve got what it takes and you’ve been recording yourself, we’d love to hear from you. Please contact us.
